Beat the 'Q' using your wallet in modern cafeterias

It was one of those tough days wherein I had to put those extra brainy stuffs to nullify the bugs in the code. Finally I had completed all my work by noon and it was time to feed my tummy..

I headed to the cafeteria and as usual the crowd was huge and the queue to get the food was long too.. May be being in a technology based company or the hangover of the workout that was just given to my brain made me think harder about a solution to this never ending problem. .

So standing in the queue I started thinking about an effective solution. I thought of various ways right from

An online portal/ mobile app to order the food before hand and get our food directly, but what if the food is over and we have our payments done. It will be a difficult process to repay everyone on a daily basis.. And how to consolidate all the vendors to a common portal. It was getting complicated from thereon...

While all this was running in my head I suddenly remembered that I had to transfer some amount to my wife. I usually PayTM her every month for her mobile expenses..

In the process of doing this transfer I came across this unique feature in the app. Pay using QR code....The solution was right in my hands.

Usually every vendor puts his list of food items available in the common notice board (atleast they have evolved to this stage, earlier we had to go to every floor to see the menu) and mostly the vendors use token system. It works something like this. See the menu, go to the cash counter, pay and get the token, again go to the food counter give the token and finally get the food.

The vendor now just has to put a QR code with his bank information and amount against each food combo or items. The QR code will now bypass the cash counter queue. Now the system would work like this. See the menu, scan the QR code pay for it using your wallet app get the receipt/token
generated, show it to the food counter and get your food..

It may not completely solve the problem as you still need to spend some time getting your food but it will definitely save that 10 to 15 minutes spent in those long cash counters at peak times. Or may be we can say it saves those trees which were cut to make those token which are obviously wated after use.

It was just a thought process which came to my mind while standing in those long queues. You can also add up something similar to it or an effective solution to this problem statement by commenting below. May be someday it will become an reality and ease our problems soon.
