I'm a Software Engineer

Those days of craving are now by-gone,

A few days after which I was just born.

The only thing to do was play all day,

And wish if I ever had something to say!

The walk and the talk meant I was ready,

To start going to school and begin to study.

Not once did I think of what I’d ever be,

For always I thought, let’s wait and see!

The days of schooling were filled with fun,

But the clock ultimately waits for none.

The time then came to set my thoughts free,

That’s when I went in pursuit of a degree!

No barriers I knew and no fears I had,

Not one thing I saw that could ever make me sad.

And though the whole course seemed so vast,

The four years flew by that very fast!

It was now time to be quicker on the run,

Coz I began to hear, “What’ll you do next, Son”?

With memories of college, at the stars I had gazed,

But soon did I realize that I’d already been placed!

The period of life which could only move faster,

I was my own tutor as well as my Master.

Lots out of it I had learnt and gained,

That was the benefit of being so hard-trained!

Not so smoothly, yet the months had coasted,

And it was high time I had to be posted.

Life was all set to shift another gear,

To know what it is to be a ‘Software Engineer’!

So, here I am in peace and solace,

Dressed even smarter and walking with grace.

But before I could start from where I was now located,

I first needed to get a PC allocated!

The warmth of the place which the AC keeps cool,

For a reason, it still reminds me of my school.

Not coz I still have to learn Sanskrit and French,

But the place to sit is still called a ‘bench’!

The cube where I sit is my second house,

My friends are the keyboard and the cute little mouse.

To learn something new, I have to pay no fee,

Nor do I pay, for a hot cuppa coffee!

This whole setting has been the abode,

To sit and write a thousand lines of code.

When the issue is complex and my thinking goes deep,

I put off the monitor and fall asleep!

Well, no one is near and no one is dear,

For your taught, even your best mate is only a peer.

Still, I manage to tell people with a cheer,

Yes, today I’m a Software Engineer!
